A bit of a rough day

Upon arrival to the venue of the art show today, I found out by one of the co-ordinators that it was canelled due to miscommunications made by the venue. Not fair at all. From what Ive been told, not handled well at all by the venue either.

I have been bummed out today since I have missed out on months of participating in the show due to going for surgery then recouperating then having to focus on me and physio. Mostly I am bummed out for the girls who have put A LOT of work into organizing these shows.

As of right now, there is going to be a hiatus on the shows. I am hoping that somehow the team of two which has become a team of one, can figure something out. Mostly because I want to participate to support them!

Im hoping there is something I can do to help.

Silver lining: now I have a ton of more books to showcase on etsy at

Its amazing what a good nights sleep does for you

I woke today feeling really good. It ended up being a really good day. I didnt venture outside but I figure with all this heat, Im just as well staying in.

Today, I didnt make any books but opted to spend today vegging about and spending time with my ussual Monday fare...blog, facebook, and working on etsy.

Good news though....I finished the wedding album! Im still trying to figure out the something borrowed and something new that I thought would be a clever add on to the albums theme. Any suggestions? I thought a love/ wedding poem scripted in blue. And the something borrowed? Well I have an idea but Ill mull it over a bit.

Tomorrow: back to making a few more books before the show on Saturday. I cant wait!

How could I forget, shame on me!

A wonderful friend of mine is starting up her own cake decorating business. She is based in Alberta but is looking into different ways to ship her creations

Please check her and her work out:

warning though: it will make you crave cake!

Oh physio, must you be so difficult yet important?

I finished going to physio on the 8th of July and then took a week off, but kept up on stretching and some cardio. Today, it was back to the program. It wasnt as hard and I thought, but who wants to do all that work? Its too bad its so important to keep going, Its a challenge Im going to face head on, you always feel better after than youd think.

But now, back to books. I have since received the bookbinding book I ordered online, but I have to keep focused on that I want/need to take to the Brocante Lux show at the Southbrook Winery on July 30th in Niagara on the Lake. It is a shame it will be the last show of the summer, Ive been on a hiatus with physio going on, so Ive missed being amidst all those great artisans!

I cannot wait though!

This week has started off spectacularly

Let's keep this spectactular-ness going!
I've just ordered yet another bookbinding book, "Making Handmade Books: 100+ Bindings, Structures & Forms". What's another book?

It all started when buying a physio recommended Core disc from Amazon, and you know how it goes from there....plus add $5 to the disc order and its free shipping...man! they know how to get you buying...somedays it doesnt take much for me. But I figure that they are both to better my body and mind, so its a good thing.

Today, I feel like doing nothing productive but in a few minutes I will go into the studio and work on the wedding album/scrapbook. Wish me luck!!

A Smackeral of books is right!

Books to my left.

Books to my right.

One very important wedding album is right in the middle, drying, waiting for me to take the next step.

On July 30th I will be participating in the Grand Finale Brocante Lux show at the Southbrook Vineyards. http://www.brocantelux.com/ and I cannot wait. It has been awhile since I have had my table set up, sitting in a crowd of talented vendors and meeting people there to browse, and hopefully purchase from one of the tables. Each time I participate in an event such as this, I meet the most fabulous people.

One moment that will stick in my mind was when I sold my bird journal at Christmas time to a man who was buying for his daughter. He figured a blank page book was good for an artsy daughter and made a joke about lined pages being too constricting for an artistic mind. I told him to take care of the book, it was my favorite. He promised he would.

I know, I am like the parent here that should not choose a favorite child but I did it anyway. it was one of the first books I made, the first book I embossed on and the most co-ordinated book I had made. I just loved it, and now its found a new home which makes me happy.

The idea of being amoung other artisans in a few weeks excites me, yet is making me anxious to make a ton of more books. The wedding album first though.

Happy Canada Day!

I know, its a bit late but I've been away at the cottage for a few days. This also means I'm behind on some bookmaking.

To my American readers...Happy 4th of July!

Tomorrow: books books books. Correction...one book in particular, a custom order wedding album that I've been avoiding because Im so nervous that it will turn out perfectly. The thing I need to remember is: just do it, it will be great. Always turns out.

While away I was included in a Toronto based treasury on etsy!
